Wright State University Climbing Gym

The Wright State University Climbing Gym features a 23' tall by 40' wide roped wall and a 14' wide by 20' wide bouldering wall. The walls are free-form walls built by Entreprises which feature natural cracks, pockets, buckets, pinches, and more all on a natural looking and feeling concrete polymer face. The climbing gym is managed and operated by paid student employees from the Outdoor Resource Center/Campus Recreation with a full-time staff program manager. Additionally, volunteer setting is provided by the University Climbing Club/Team. Sections of the wall are reset every 1-3 weeks by the head setter and a team of 1-6 paid and volunteer route setters. At any given time, there are 10-20 tope rope routes, 5-10 sport routes, 30-60 boulder problems, and a few cracks to practice trad placements. The Climbing Gym offers top rope and lead belay classes, climbing coaching, and other clinics periodically. It is the home of the WSU Climbing Club and Climbing Team, which practices 2-5 times per week on campus and hosts an annual competition. The Student Union building also has a food court, a swimming pool, racketball courts, basketball court, a full size fitness center, and other amenities.
