The Squamish grand wall boulders are situated at the base of the Stawamus Chief, a giant monolith granite face towering over 700 meters. The granite boulders are concentrated and covered by a dense evergreen forest. The landings can be dangerous so often pads and good spotters are needed. The season can vary from March to late October depending on if it is a wet or dry year. Many people visit in the months of June to September when the sun tends to overshadow the rain but for good, sticky conditions, March, April, late September to October are perfect. Squamish is located in a rainforest temperate forest which means it can be moist! Grades vary from V0 to V13 with potential for more problems.
Please take care in the Squamish boulder! The ecosystem has seen much damage since the popularity of bouldering in the area. Please stay on the trails, pick up trash you see and use the provided toilets. And that includes banana peels! Avoid over cleaning moss from new problems. It doesn't grow back as fast as they say!!
The boulders are accessible from any of the Chief parking lots. From the old highway which now looks like a wide trail, there are main trails going right into the forest. Starting from the campground going north, the first trail in the right leads to the titanic area, the second (in the middle parking lot) leads to the sesame street area, the third trail which is the first right on the old highway from the main lower parking lot leads to the Black Dkye area, the forth (second on old highway) leads to superfly and Easy chair and the upper areas. The fifth (3rd in old highway) leads to Animal magnetism area. The 6th which is small and often overgrown is (4th on old hwy) leads to King Kong/Siddhartha area. After this path the old highway leads down a hill which opens up into the Apron Talus.
